Centrally located Benidorm is an ideal base for visiting the surrounding villages and towns. In the nearby towns such as Altea, La Villa Joyosa, Calpe, Denia, and El Albir you will find a relaxed atmosphere, beautiful ports, authentic houses, and picturesque views over the Mediterranean Sea. Also, the small mountain village of Guadalest and the waterfalls of Algar are definitely worth a visit

The larger cities of Alicante and Valencia offer more than enough to serve as a longer cultural day trip or weekend. All these places are easy to reach by public transport and it is not that expensive at all.

You can also take a rental car to discover all the places around Benidorm. That way you can easily drive to nearby towns and villages, which is definitely recommended during the less busy periods in Benidorm. You don't have to wait for the bus and tram. The disadvantage is, of course, finding a good parking space when you rent the car for several days and stay in the center of the city.
